Frequently Asked Questions
I just have one question, do I still need to book a consultation with you?
When you submit your question via the contact form, please provide complete information. If it is something that can be responded to quickly, I will be happy to provide you an answer without you needing to book a consultation. If not, I will let you know that we need to set up a consultation.
If I hire your services, do you guarantee a positive outcome?
No authorized immigration consultant or lawyer will ever guarantee a positive outcome. If someone is guaranteeing you a positive outcome then they are misleading you. The final decision on any outcome is finally that of the IRCC. I do however assure you that I will do my utmost to prepare a strong application for you that gives you the best possible chance to be approved.
How long will it take to get a decision on my immigration process?
Processing times vary based on which immigration service you have applied for; IRCC posts processing times here. It is always advisable to prepare and submit your application well in advance.
My application has been rejected more than once, can I still reapply?
It doesn’t matter how many times your application has been rejected, you can always reapply if your situation has changed and you are able to address the reasons for which your application was rejected. It is advisable to obtain your GCMS notes to understand the reasons for refusal.
Will you provide some guidance if I want to submit my application myself?
Yes. If you would prefer to submit any application yourself and need some guidance, I will be happy to help you. You can book consultations as you need them. Rest assured, there will be no pressure to hire my services.
I am already scoring more than 450 points on the CRS, why should I conduct an eligibility assessment with you?
Applying for any of the permanent residency pathways isn’t just about scoring high on the Comprehensive Ranking System although it is an important factor. With more than 60 programs, it is important to ensure that you apply for the program (one or more) that gives you the best chance of success. Another reason is to ensure that you have scored correctly. Many people don’t understand the nuances of the scoring system and the score may not be accurate.
How do I know which study program is right for me?
My agent says he will provide study program counselling and admission for free, why should I pay for your study program counselling?
Agents typically get paid commissions by educational institutions to enrol students for their programs so their recommendations may not always be what is best for you. If there is a better suited program for you at a university for which they are not getting a commission, they will not recommend it for you. Many programs have similar names (sometimes identical names!) but are different in many ways. Their curriculum could be different, their elective and mandatory courses could be different, some may offer work integration (co-op or internship), some are reputed for their industry networking, some programs in certain institutions have better laboratory facilities than others, etc. Furthermore, many reputed institutions don’t work with agents (which means your agent is unlikely to recommend their program), and some disreputable institutions give agents high commissions leading agents to recommend these programs even if these programs are not the right fit for you. Even when an agent has the right intentions, they don’t necessarily understand the Canadian employment landscape and cannot provide this information to you. When you are going to be investing 2-4 years of your life, thousands of dollars in tuition and living expenses, and depending on a program to give you the right start for your career and a pathway to residency in Canada, cheap and free advice can prove extremely expensive in the long run. It is better to learn of all your options before you end up in Canada only to realize you are stuck with the wrong program and it is too late or too expensive to make a change. Or worse, get a refusal for your study permit.
Will you help me apply to the program of my choice after the study program counselling?
No. In order to ensure absolute impartiality, I do not provide any admission services to clients. I will however guide you to people who may be able to help you do so. I will emphasize here that I do not receive any compensation directly or indirectly from any people I may guide you to.
I’m not sure which program is right for my parents, can you help?
There are essentially three options for parents (and grandparents) to come to Canada – visitor visa, super visa and permanent residency. The right option will depend on how long they want to stay, your finances, their health and finances, their dependents, etc. I can help you understand the pros and cons of each option for you to decide which one is best for your parents.
Will you help me find a job if I take your job search guidance sessions?
No. I don’t help you find a job but I do help you conduct your job search strategically so that your chances of getting a job are significantly improved. I also review your resume/CV, review your LinkedIn profile and in general provide you insights into the many tools and approaches you can use to make you job search highly effective.
